Burleson

Tina Burleson is a native of Charlotte. She is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to coming to First Baptist Church in May of 1987, she served on the staff of three other churches in the Charlotte/North Mecklenburg Area.

Tina feels called by God to love, nurture and disciple children . This call arises from her happy memories at church as a child. She feels that children are an important part of the church and should be encouraged to grow in their relationship with Christ. She believes Luke 2:52 offers a model for balanced growth in children. "And Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with men".

Tina also believes it is important for the church to partner with parents in discipling their children. She believes the church can help parents by providing parent training and offering them support and encouragement. Additionally, she feels called to train and care for the teachers who work with children at church.

Most importanty, Tina believes she and all others who work with children should model the love of Jesus to each child and help them to feel glad they came to church. Her passion is to see that children are valued in the same way as they were valued by Jesus.
