Rafael Hernandez grew up in Venezuela, where he graduated from Ebenezer Bible Institute in 1982.  He graduated from Instituto Universitario UNIR in 1993 as Administrator. He served as pastor of a local church and later as an Administrator in an evangelical mission in Maracaibo, Venezuela.  In 1995, Rafael enrolled at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Illinois on a full scholarship.  He received a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts with special emphasis in New Testament.  In 1997, he was ordained at Gethsemane Baptist Church (a Southern Baptist Church in the Chicago area).  Rafael and his wife, Emma, have two children, a son, Rafael Josue, and a daughter, Isabel.
