We believe God has called First Baptist Church-Huntersville to support the family in preparing children for a relationship with Christ, and to provide a loving Christian community which nurtures children in the Christian faith and builds the foundation for living a life of service to God. Our schedules, discipleship offerings, and fellowship activities reflect our commitment to a godly partnership with parents.
There are weekly activities that take place for children birth-5th grade that meet on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. We also have several parent fellowship events during the school year. Vacation Bible School, summer camp. and recreation/discipleship opportunities are offered duing the summer.
Every Sunday morning for children birth-K Bible study is offered from 9:00-10:00. Bible study for Grades 1-5 is offered from 10:30-11:30 on Sunday. Preschoolers are taught from curriculum published by Lifeway. Grade school children are taught from material published by Abingdon press. Preschool classrooms are located in the Family Life Center. Grade School classrooms are located in the Discipleship Center. Our children are taught from the Bible by volunteers who are church members and are screened for security purposes. Each classroom has two teachers at all times.
Children age 2-K have worship experience each Sunday from 10:30-11:30. During this time, our children rotate between three learning centers for music/Bible stories, games, and crafts, which are related to the worship theme for the day. Once a month they also have a life application puppet skit. These activities are led by volunteers who serve every 5 weeks on a rotation basis. These volunteers are screened for security purposes. Worship materials published by Lifeway are utilized for these learning centers.
Children Grades 1-5 attend My Father’s House, a worship service designed for them, every Sunday, except the fifth Sunday from 9:00-10:00 in the auditorium of the Discipleship Center. If your child or grandchild would like to attend the 9:00 worship service, they are more than welcome to do so. They may remain in the service for entire time with you or you may walk them down to the Discipleship Center after the praise and worship time.
Children 3 years old-5th grade participate in music activities or choir from 6:00-6:45 during the school year. Children sing for Wednesday night Bible Study and Sunday morning worship services throughout the year and also give special presentations during December and in May. Materials utilized are from Celebrate Grace as well as other publishers. Preschool choirs meet in the Family Life Center, 1-2 Grade School choir meets in the Discipleship Center and grades 3-5 choir meets upstairs in the Sanctuary.
Children 3 years old -5th grade participate in mission activities (stories, crafts, prayer times, games, etc) on Wednesday nights from 6:45-7:30 during the school year. Children also have the opportunity to participate in several special activities such as lock-ins, camping trips, mission projects, and seasonal studies. Materials are published by Women's Missionary Union, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and the North American Mission Board.
