Transition Team

The transition team of FBC-H is comprised of the 7 members of the Pastor Search Team and 9 additional members.  This team has been commissioned to lead the church through a time of renewal and re-visioning - a time for the church body to seek the Lord's direction and next steps for the future.

Bible Study Series - Week 1 PDF Print E-mail

As part of the ongoing effort to seek God’s direction through prayer and the study of scriptures, there will be a three week adult Bible study series beginning May 4th and continuing on May 11th and May 18th. The series will focus on Acts 2 and how aspects of the early church apply to FBCH. These lessons will be taught by all regular adult Bible study teachers and will be made available on the website and by mail/email as requested. Watch for a date soon, tentatively June 8th, when we hope to hear what God has revealed to you through personal devotions, prayer and studying jointly as a church body!

Healthy Churches Presentation PDF Print E-mail

A Reminder from the Transition Team...

Please Make Every Effort to Attend This Important Presentation!

Sunday, April 27 @ 6PM - Discipleship Center Auditorium

Dr. Bill Wilson from the Center for Healthy Churches will share information on recent trends of attendance decline in churches and how believers can take action to reverse those trends.

The trends Dr. Wilson will share along with other research were quite an "awakening" for the Transition Team.  Some of these include:

- The number of people who are skeptical or agnostic toward the Bible has nearly doubled from 10% to 19% in just 3 years.*

- Only 12% of FBC-H attenders are ages 19-35

- 17% of Americans attend a worship service of any sort on an average weekend **

As discussed in recent meetings about the Listening Session results and in light of the church trends above, please be in prayer about what God would have us do in these 5 areas:

Above all, remember these words: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

  • Outward Service - home/local/abroad
  • Biblical Literacy and Spiritual Growth - Understanding and application of scripture- Cultivating passionate relationships with Jesus
  • Caring Relationships (inside and outside the church) - Fellowship and intimate relationships -  carrying one another's burdens
  • Authentic Worship - What worship looks like 365 days/year
  • Evangelism - God's Invitation - Sharing of the gospel - meeting the unchurched where they are and inviting them to know Jesus

Communication 1.14.2014 PDF Print E-mail

Dear Fellow FBC Members,

As you may be aware, your Pastor Search Team has been meeting together weekly since the end of October. After the other members of the Transition Team were affirmed by the church on December 8th, year-end schedules and holiday activities prevented the remainder of the group from meeting until January 2nd. This group has now met each of the past two weeks.

In recent meetings, the Pastor Search and Transition Teams have worked separately in creating outlines of what needs to be accomplished around the following areas: Healing; Heritage, Leadership and Decision Making; External Relationships; Congregational Identity; Future.

It has been helpful for the two groups to have met separately to develop these outlines, since doing so has allowed for the number of thoughts and ideas surrounding the above areas to be expanded. In other words, while the two separate groups thought of some of the same ideas, each group was also able to develop additional ideas. The expansion of ideas increases the potential success of the transition process.

I am pleased to announce that the two groups will come together this Sunday evening to compare notes and to begin working in unison as one Transition Team! And, while the work of these sixteen individuals is vastly important to our church, you have a very important role to play also. I encourage you to pray for each of the team members as well as to pray for yourselves. Pray that God will prepare each member of FBC Huntersville to be used by Him and that He will be glorified through this process. Members of the entire Transition Team are:

Jeff Barnett
Will Bates
Tiffany Chirokas
Bev Clayton
Greg Fullenwider
Dale Harlan
Kelly Lefler
Ginny McKenzie
Laurie Nappier
Vickie Pluer
Joel Presson
Stephen Santiago
Eric Seay
Martha Sloan
Jim Smith
Susie Stroud

These are exciting times at our church, and the members of the Transition Team share a great amount of enthusiasm! Let's prepare ourselves for spiritual growth and to be what God is calling us corporately and individually to be!

In His Service,

Gerald
