Wycliffe Bible Translators Global Mission
Wycliffe Bible Translators is dedicated to translating and delivering Scripture to people around the world in a language and form they understand best. Rich and Katrina Boutwell are missionaries supported by FBC Huntersville. They serve six different language communities. They provide assistance in the training of 23 national translators, coordinating tone and grammar research as well as overseeing revisions to the alphabets as needed. People who never had a chance to read the Bible because their alphabet and language were never translated, are now able to do so.
Baptist Children’s Homes of NC - Thomasville, NC
Founded in 1885, the mission of the Baptist Children’s Home is to provide the highest quality of Christian services to children, adults and families in a caring culture of measurable excellence. Baptist Children’s home serves all 100 counties in NC. They operate 23 facilities in 19 communities. Baptist Children’s Homes provides programs to children of all ages; teen mothers, single mothers and their children, developmentally disabled, as well as frail and aging adults.
Charlotte Family Housing - Charlotte NC
Charlotte Family Housing works to solve family homelessness by doing the following:
Housing families – immediate needs of the homeless are address by sheltering working families and helping them forge a path back to housing along with providing short term rental assistance in apartments all around the area.
Building partnerships – CFH partners with families in the areas of financial self-reliance, careers, education, support networks, and health and wellness. Volunteers form intentional relationships of encouragement and support.
Empower change – CFH offers matched savings accounts, microloans for qualified emergencies and below market loan rates. Financial education is provided in order to preserve dignity and self-esteem, to increase personal accountability and decrease dependency.
Volunteer opportunities are available on an individual basis and for groups.
Charlotte Rescue Mission and Dove’s Nest - Charlotte NC
Founded in 1938, the Charlotte Rescue Mission has a long history of reaching out to the homeless and those battling addictions. Over the years, the Mission has been located in several different uptown Charlotte buildings and has been called several different names, but the commitment to serving the homeless and sharing the gospel of Christ has never changed.
Dove’s Nest is the area of the mission focused on women. Their Mission Statement is: To minister the Good News of Christianity to individuals caught in the crisis of poverty, hopelessness, or addictions by meeting their spiritual, physical, and emotional needs.
Charlotte Rescue Mission and Dove’s Nest are Christian recovery programs. They believe that with Jesus Christ as the higher power, recovery from any addiction is possible. Biblically based counseling is provided. The gospel of Jesus Christ is shared and worship is encouraged through chapel services and Bible studies.
Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals and groups.
Barium Spring Children’s Home - Barium Springs, NC
Since 1891, Barium Springs has been providing a safe home for North Carolina’s Children. In addition to a safe home, they also provide therapy to heal hurts and education to break the cycle of abuse or neglect. Physical care is provided in 63 of the state’s 100 counties. Barium Springs is a faith based organization and children are actively exposed to the love of Jesus. The concept of forgiveness is presented in order for the children’s healing process to begin. Over 30 types of services and the largest array of programs for children and families are available. The large number of programs available reduces the need for children to transfer across multiple agencies. Barium Springs is located approximately 35 minutes north of Huntersville. The staff seeks volunteers to help with cleaning, vehicle washing, and meals for residents. On site and live-in adult care givers are also always in need of encouragement.
