Our Church Purpose
“We exist to proclaim Christ, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone complete in Christ. To this end we labor, struggling with all the Lord's energy which so powerfully works in us.” Based on Colossians 1:28-29
Who We Are
Our church has established six core values based on Acts 2:42-47, which drive our ministry.
(listed in alphabetical order)
Discipleship - Leading Believers Toward Maturity in Christ
As disciples and church members, we are to instruct and train others to follow Jesus by loving one another, bearing much fruit, preparing to endure and growing in faith by loving and serving Jesus. This is our duty, responsibility and privilege, to develop believers for effective Christian living.
Evangelism - Sharing the Gospel
Jesus, in Matthew 28:19-20 and Mark 16:15 (the Great Commission) charges us to be messengers of the Good News of our faith. As we seek to carry out this commission, -we are guided by Jesus' command in Acts 1:8. Our act of obedience is to be evangelists first in our own homes and church, then in our neighborhoods, then in North Mecklenburg County, then outward to the ends of the earth.
Fellowship - Building Relationships Within and Outside the Church
We believe our first fellowship must be with Jesus Christ our Lord, who promises to return our fellowship with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Only with this established, can we have true fellowship with and love for one another. We seek to follow the model of the early church in devoting ourselves to a fellowship of believers.
Prayer - Focusing Attention on God through Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication
We believe that daily communication, guided by the Holy Spirit, with our living Heavenly Father is vital to the life of a believer. We look to God's Word to speak to us about prayer and to guide us as we seek His will for our lives and for our church. Jesus Christ gave specific instructions on how to pray including a model prayer in Matthew 6:9-15 which includes adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. Therefore, all church members are encouraged to have a regular prayer time, and all church activities will include prayer.
Service in Ministry - Leading Christians to Serve
God has given every Christian the gift of the Holy Spirit to equip us for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up. The Spirit gives us the gifts needed to do the work that God calls each person to do. When we respond to God's call to serve, then the body “grows and build itself up in love as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16) We encourage members to find a place of service according to God's plan.
Worship - Leading People to Experience God and Worship Him in Meaningful, Transforming Ways
We are commanded to exalt the Lord our God. (Psalm 99:5 and Matthew 4:10). We come together for worship in the presence of an awesome and holy God, offering Him our adoration and praise in a spirit of repentance to prepare us for His service.
We also have three supporting core groups Facilities, Personnel and Stewardship.
Facilities - Provide effective Maintenance and housekeeping services to all facilities, utilizing good stewardship of time, resources and money.
Personnel - Provide human resource support in the areas of personnel policies, compensation, hiring and benefits and provide encouragement and support to our church staff.
Stewardship - Develop giving emphases, recommend and oversee budgets and provide financial counseling.
