We hope you will invite your friends and neighbors to hear his amazing story on Wednesday, September 14 at 6:00 pm in the Discipleship Auditorium.
Major Cory Jones, United States Marine Corps, recently received the 2022 Marine of the Year award and the Distinguished Flying Cross medal, the U.S.’s fourth highest award for bravery. Cory is the youngest son of Dean and Rhonda Jones, FBCH members. He and his wife Lori, live in New Bern, with their two young children, Eli and Maddie.
Two years ago, Sept. 29, 2020, Cory and his crew were flying a transport aircraft for refueling training when there was a midair collision with another aircraft. With gratitude and humility, Cory was quick to give his crew credit for their part in landing the aircraft, saving the entire crew.
“I did not expect to be able to fly the aircraft away from this situation because there haven’t been any successful midair collisions with a C-130, that I know of, in which the crew survives,” according to Maj. Jones.
