In delivering the commencement speech at Dillard University, award-winning actor Denzel Washington told the college graduates to put God first in everything they do, adding that “You have never seen a U-Haul behind a hearse.”

The Apostle Paul put it this way “But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.” 1 Timothy 6:6-7 ESV

Jesus said it best. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21 ESV

Prayerfully consider how you will use your resources to further the kingdom of God. Consistent giving to the church will not only keep the daily works of ministry alive, your generosity will be an investment that ripples out through eternity.

When we respond to how God would have us use our resources we no longer live in fear of losing anything. Instead we look forward to gaining everything.
